Getting your team working as a finely tuned strategic unit is not the end of the road. In fact, you could say that’s the easy bit. That’s because there is only so much value one team alone can create. Think about it - you could work hard to get your accounts payable team in a position where they’re spending most of their time crunching data and devising insights that inform business strategy. But if nobody else in the company is taking notice of these insights, they might as well go back to spending 100% of their time managing exceptions.
Silos are clearly an issue that all enterprises must solve. While you may be able to solve small tactical issues in isolation, the big strategic issues require cross departmental collaboration.
